Each house has its own story… Casa Florilia first belonged to an English couple . They experienced several holiday seasons there with their children who in turn became parents. Then it was acquired by Gérard and Chantal, a Belgian couple from the Namur region in Belgium. Their love for Portugal was born a long time ago, when they came with Chantal’s parents to Lagos in the 80s. Together with their children, they fell in love with Tavira in 2012. They have been coming here regularly ever since. When Chantal’s father died, and later, when her house was sold, Chantal and her family wanted to bring grandfather’s dreams to life through a beautiful vacation home whose everyone around them could benefit. Casa Florilia was born! Florilia is the contraction of the first names of their two little girls Florentine and Virgilia, the darlings of their lives.
Casa Florilia was built in 2003, by an architect with attention to detail, originally from Porto. It is part of a poetic complex of 10 large houses divided into four, each with its own specificity. The whole thing is just beautiful and peaceful. This architect also has his own house on the site, perhaps you will meet him. He, his wife and his daughter are charming.
Located at the top of a hill overlooking the charming little town of Tavira, the site offers a 360° view and unparalleled calm. Inspired by thecolors of the Portuguese azuleijos, the architect designed these typical facades in vibrant blue and immaculate white tones. This blue has the ancestral virtue of repelling mosquitoes.
The swimming pool, common to all the houses is accessible during the day, but also in the evening and is in itself a soothing presence on the site.
This house exudes a positive, soft and calm energy, just like its history.
